Choosing Ascension
Heaven is not a reward for the deserving and Hell is not
for those who lived a 'bad' life. Ascension is something
that we live with every day, whether or not we choose
to ascend. It is how we carry out our agreement to
fulfill our soul purpose and we are given the opportunity
to choose the path of Ascension with every thought,
word and action. Each time that we choose not to
ascend we are given another opportunity to make that
choice. These opportunities come to us in the form of
situations that allow us to experience our soul lessons
and to make choices that either resolve or continue
them. Ascension is not an obligation; it is a choice that
we make for ourselves and our spiritual path.
We must be able to appreciate the benefits of
ascension before we choose it and those benefits come
to us after we have made the choice and not before.
So we are asked to choose the path of Ascension on
faith, without a preview of what the choice will mean
to us. Choosing ascension requires faith and trust in a
benevolent Universe, knowing that our spiritual journey
is always rewarded even if it is at times difficult and
painful.
What happens if we choose to not ascend? By that, I
mean choosing to not learn our lessons, to not release
our karma, to not learn to live in forgiveness, gratitude
and unconditional love. Are we punished if we do not
make the choice? The short answer is 'no'. The longer
answer is the Universe never punishes us for anything
because it does not judge us. We have a soul contract
to fulfill and we will continue to receive lessons until we
are willing to learn them. That will take as long as it
takes, even if it takes our entire lifetime. When we
resist our lessons they do not go away. They just come
around again for us to make different types of choices.
Choosing the path of ascension moves us forward on
our spiritual journey and has both tangible and
intangible rewards. The tangible rewards will manifest in
our lives in the form of greater peace, abundance, joy
and discovering that life flows more easily. The
intangible rewards include the fulfillment of our spiritual
journey and the freedom from fear which opens us up
to the energy of unconditional love and a greater
connection to Source. And our lessons become easier
to manage and to learn. Whether we choose to ascend
or not is entirely up to us. But when we choose the
path of Ascension we move forward along our spiritual
path and help ourselves and the world ascend to new
levels of being, creating peace and unconditional love
for everyone.

Seeing Through the Eyes of Our Needs
A client recently called to confirm something that I had
told her months before about her relationship, that the
man was not who she thought he was. She was
deeply disappointed because the 'wonderful' person she
was dating turned out to be quite different than she
believed. In fact, he had some issues that took her by
surprise but were serious enough to end the
relationship. Her question was 'why did I not see this
before?'. But this man had these issues all along and
she did not notice them because when she saw him,
she noticed only those things about him that fulfilled
her needs in the relationship. Everything else was not
important. And when she met him she 'needed' a
relationship in her life and accepted the first person
who came along even though he was not exactly what
she wanted.
We rarely see people as they truly are; instead, we
connect with those parts of them that meet our needs.
This is especially true in relationships, where we tend
to need things like love, companionship and support
from those we seek out. When we find someone who
meets those needs, we are so happy to have our needs
met that we tend to overlook anything else about
them, in the beginning. There does come a time when
we are forced to look at the whole person and that can
be a rude awakening. Suddenly, our wonderful partner
has addictions, is unfaithful, lies, or steals from us. But
those were not new aspects to their personality; they
were just not part of what we wanted to see in them.
People do not change overnight. They are always who
they are all of the time. We just notice different
aspects of their character as we are willing to, or when
a situation forces us to look beyond where they meet
our needs and see the whole person. And, like my
client, that can put us in the position of having to
choose whether we want that person in our lives.
Further, if someone pointed out these things to us
before we were ready to see them, we would ignore
their comments. When I initially told the client about
his issues, she became angry with me because she was
not ready to hear that.
Entering into any relationship, whether it is romantic,
professional or a friendship when we are 'needy' limits
our ability to see the situation or person as it is. When
we want our needs met we get what meets our needs.
But our needs change and once we are no
longer 'needy' we can be disappointed with the choices
that we made when we were 'needy'. When we
are 'needy' we are in fear and when we are in fear we
are not in our power. Making choices from a position of
fear limits our possibilities and provides us with short-
term solutions. When we are no longer needy, the
outcome of our choices is no longer attractive. This
week, if you feel compelled to make a choice, are you
acting out of need? Can you take a step back and
decide whether you want to wait for a better
opportunity? Are you acting out of fear or are you
completely satisfied you're your choice? Considering the
consequences before acting out of need helps us
manage our lessons and make more fulfilling choices
that serve our highest good.

Uriel's Message-When there is No Answer
There are situations where there is no logical
explanation for another's behavior. In these situations
you must find closure through acceptance of things
that you do not understand, rather than continue in
the situation while you wait for an answer that makes
sense to you. Sometimes the lesson involves learning
to leave in order to lessen your own pain and suffering.
Waiting for the other person to acknowledge your
worthiness, contribution or value will only prolong your
suffering and you may never receive the response you
desire. Sometimes there is no reason available to you
and you must simply walk away.
In order to full understand another's behavior you
would have to know every detail of another's karmic
history and soul evolution. You would have to see
every step that they took in each lifetime and every
outcome of their actions in order to understand their
current way of thinking. You would have to see every
lifetime in which you interacted together to be able to
understand the string of events that lead to how they
interact with you in this lifetime. And you would have
to be aware of every situation where you betrayed,
hurt, killed or played a destructive role in your lifetimes
together to understand that in this karmic cycle they
may be seeking revenge.
Even with that information, each person is governed by
their free will and their choices cannot always be
predicted. They may want one thing and do another or
tell you one thing and then act in a different manner.
You know that this is happening and that the
relationship is out of balance. When that happens, you
also have choices to make. You can continue to suffer
or you can set yourself free and move on. Of course,
you can also seek revenge but that is not the path of
spiritual growth and that choice will simply keep you in
your karmic cycle.
Learning to accept others' choices with grace is a
difficult lesson to learn and it can be accomplished
when you do not place your own value, your self-worth
in the hands of another. When you are so confident of
who you are, standing in your power and consciously
aware of your value, you will not attract relationships
with people who do not value you. Then you will not
have to walk away from people whose behavior you
cannot explain and who are unwilling or unable to
provide you will acceptable reasons. Remember that
you attract every life situation so as you examine the
situation, look at what you did to create this and to
call it to you. Then, the next time, you can create
something different.

Today's Children--How Sex and Violence Harm Indigo and Crystal Children
When my children were young I monitored all of their
television viewing. These were pre-Internet days so
they did not have access to the on-line world but I
would not let them play violent video games either. And
I was known for embarrassing them by insisting that we
leave movies that were too violent or sexual and
demanding my money back. But I felt that if it bothered
me it could not be good for them. Of course, as they
grew older I could not watch them all of the time and
the things I would not let them do at home they often
did at a friend's house. But I was able to maintain
control over the level of sex and violence they were
exposed to when they were young, which I believe
made a difference in the choices they make today.
Indigo and Crystal children are born with their energy
focused in their heart center, which is different from
previous generations, who have their energy centered
in one of the three lower chakras. Their heart-centered
energy is what makes them so loving, empathic and
intuitive and through it they have a strong Source
connection. This is why they often feel different, unlike
other children and out of balance when they are around
other people. It is also why they have so much trouble
adapting to the world today, as much of the world is
fear focused with a concentration of energy centered
in the lower energy centers.
Constant exposure to sexual and violent images can
move the Indigo and Crystal energy from the heart
center to one of the lower chakras. It is something
that happens gradually, but it does happen and over
time, their heart-focused energy can turn into
something very uncomfortable for them as they do not
have the ability to cope with the fear and other
aspects of these lower energies. They can, in this
state, also attract all kinds of things to them that can
make them act in ways that include addictions, anger
and even violence.
I am aware that it is much more difficult for parents to
shield their young children from images of violence and
sex today because they are everywhere, on TV, in
movies, music, video games and on the Internet. Even
children's clothing is, I believe, overtly sexual. And
contrary to what we are told, I believe that this
constant exposure does harm children, especially Indigo
and Crystal children, in ways that we are not aware of.
And continued exposure to them can alter their energy
balance, as it re-directs their energy in ways that they
are not equipped to handle. As parents we can control,
to some degree, what are children are exposed to and
help them maintain their energy balance so that they
are able to stay within the energy that they came here
with and to understand a potential source of their
sometimes challenging behavior.
